About Us
Eritrean Muslim Relief & Development (EMRD) is a faith-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Eritrean Muslim communities both locally and abroad. Founded on the principles of transparency, integrity, and service, EMRD empowers communities through the development of mosques, Islamic schools, and educational programs, while offering timely support during religious, humanitarian, and community crises.
At EMRD, we believe in building more than physical structures — we build knowledge, resilience, and spiritual growth. Our work is nonpolitical, rooted in Islamic values, and respectful of all cultures and traditions. We stand with Eritrean Muslims and imams when their beliefs, practices, or rights are challenged, always promoting understanding, respect, and peace.
Our Story / Background
EMRD was born from a simple yet powerful vision: to unite Eritrean Muslims under a banner of service, education, and compassion. It began with small community efforts — supporting local mosques, helping imams, and providing Qur’an education to children — and grew into a global initiative responding to the needs of Eritrean Muslims wherever they live.
Our story continues through every project we complete and every life touched by our collective effort.

For Our People, For Our Deen
1. Islamic Education
We aim to promote comprehensive Islamic education by teaching the Qur’an and authentic Islamic studies. Through structured programs, qualified instructors, and accessible learning environments, we strive to cultivate knowledgeable, ethical, and spiritually conscious individuals who contribute positively to their communities.
2. Development
Our development efforts focus on the construction and renovation of masajid and Islamic schools. These projects are designed to provide safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces for worship, education, and community growth — strengthening the foundation of Islamic life in both urban and rural areas.
3. Relief and Humanitarian Support
We provide critical humanitarian assistance during times of crisis, including war, conflict, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks. Our programs extend support to affected Muslim communities in Eritrea and abroad, ensuring timely relief, medical aid, and essential supplies to those in need.
4. Prevention and Response
We are committed to protecting and defending the rights, dignity, and beliefs of Muslims wherever they are threatened. This includes responding to incidents of discrimination, supporting imams and community leaders, and advocating for justice and religious freedom through lawful and peaceful means.
Strategic Partnerships
We aim to collaborate with leading Islamic humanitarian and educational organizations across the world — sharing resources, expertise, and guidance — to bring sustainable change and unity to Eritrean Muslim communities globally.
