Department of Community Affairs (DCA)
Promoting Unity, Fair Representation, and Cooperation Across All Communities.
About the Department of Community Affairs (DCA)
The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) serves as the heart of EMRD’s social unity efforts. It ensures that every ethnic and faith community connected to EMRD is fairly represented, well-supported, and actively engaged in building peace, progress, and harmony across all regions. Through this department, EMRD works to preserve cultural identity while strengthening national cohesion rooted in justice, respect, and mutual understanding.
Led by the Director of Community Affairs, the department oversees all community and inter-community coordinators across Eritrea and the diaspora. Together, they develop strategies for engagement, maintain communication between diverse groups, and guide initiatives that respond to real community needs. Regular reports, conferences, and collaborative meetings ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable progress in all areas of community development.
Each ethnic and inter-community head plays a vital role in representing their people within EMRD’s structure. From the Tigre, Afar, and Saho communities to the Rashaida, Beja, Nara, Bilen, Kunama, Jeberti, and Christian populations, every group is given a voice and an avenue for contribution. These leaders promote cooperation, coordinate community programs, and strengthen relationships across ethnic and faith lines.
Ultimately, the DCA’s mission is to cultivate unity through diversity — ensuring that all communities, regardless of background, share equally in the spiritual, educational, and social progress of our nation. By fostering trust, inclusion, and collective purpose, the department helps build the foundation for a peaceful and compassionate Eritrea for generations to come.
